Burn Out

Today we are burning out the wax from our moulds. The molochite ceramic coated wax trees are placed in the burnout chamber on its mesh floor with the pour cups facing down.  The burner is placed on its port at the back and hooked up to a butane gas bottle. Once ignited the wax melts and falls into a tray of water below, this wax is collected with a large scraper and reused once the water is squeezed out.
Once all the wax is out and stops falling into the water tray the kiln is left for an hour or so to fire the ceramic shells for pouring bronze into.
